19歲商務(wù)專業(yè)大學(xué)生Trina目睹了自己輔導(dǎo)過的女生Jade在車庫被撞死,但警方認為是一起意外事件。為了支付大學(xué)費用,Trina開發(fā)了一個獨特的約會APP軟件UPFRONT。在UPFRONT取得了巨大的成功之后,Trina無意中得知自己的APP被一些女生濫用為賣淫中心。正在Trina與朋友、導(dǎo)師商量是否需要關(guān)閉網(wǎng)站或者報警時,發(fā)現(xiàn)其中一個做應(yīng)召的女生在宿舍自殺。Trina在追查兩個女生的死因的過程中,發(fā)現(xiàn)導(dǎo)師的老公竟然是Jade的??汀T跍蕚浜蛯?dǎo)師見面的過程中,發(fā)現(xiàn)導(dǎo)師被刺,最后的兇手竟然是瘋狂愛上Jade的院長。最后在合作朋友的幫助下,將院長繩之以法。
Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
