大二在讀的安小河，因高利貸等事遭到“追殺”，30歲畫家康梅梅因接到“病危”通知，兩人先后“逃”回到恒河邊的家鄉，與在村里夢想有一天能在河里找到傳說中金碗的農民康大恒在爭吵和交往中，安小河對康梅梅產生了不一樣的情愫，父女多年的隔閡也冰釋前嫌。

Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
